Legacy Support
Legacy support is provided for the original ImpactFolios manager and designs prior to 2019.
Important Note: Legacy designs and manager are no longer being developed. We recommend our customers migrate to the new manager, which supports all modern technologies.
How Do I Add Background Music?
Music can be uploaded through the "media uploads" link located in your Account Management menu. The uploader will automatically detect what kind of file you are uploading, so if you are uploading music, it will be available as a loop under "General Properties".
We recommend using Mp3 files for your music loops, as they are typically smaller in size (see note below).
If you are downloading Mp3's from iTunes, you may experience problems due to the copyright protection employed by iTunes. We do not recommend iTunes Mp3's for web use.
To add the music loop to your website as background music, do the following:
- First, ensure that you have uploaded the file to the "Media Uploads" section.
- Next, click the "General Properties" link located beneath Design Options in your Account Management menu.
- At the bottom of this page, next to Background Music, you will see a drop down option listing all of the available uploaded music files.
- Select your audio file and click the Update button.
When a visitor comes to your website via the home page, the music will begin looping via a media bar at the bottom of your browser window. This option enables visitors to turn off your music, or adjust the volume, if they wish.
Important Notes about Music Loops
When a visitor comes to your site, the music loop will begin downloading. Depending on the size of the music loop, the process of downloading can slow down the apparent speed of the site, which will be dependent on the visitor's internet speed (dial up, broadband, cable, etc). Thus, it is better to use loops that are of a smaller file size, as they will not consume as much of the visitor's internet bandwidth. To make it simple - smaller is usually better.
