New slideshow options!

We have added three new slideshow options to the site today.

These new slideshows are 100% mobile comptabile, allowing users on any platform to experience your website, as you intended it to be viewed.

You can find the new slideshows under the "Slideshow Manager" link, after logging into your account.

For clarity, we have also noted which slideshows are mobile comptabile, and those that have limited platform compatiblity.

Custom Meta Tags Available!

Per the request of many of our customers - we have now added the ability to add custom meta tags for your website.

This is a feature provided for advanced users, which gives you more control over the internal meta tags of your website. Some sites, such as Pinterest, Bing, Etsy, etc, may request that you enter a meta tag in your website for the purpose of validating ownership. This is where custom meta tags come into play.

Site specific tutorials will be added in the near future.

You can find the custom meta tag option under the "general properties" section in the account manager, under layout and site options. The custom meta tag option will build the tags for you - you simply need the "name" and "content" values for each.

Note that we already provide support for some meta tag options - such as Google Validation. Standard meta tag options, such as description and keywords, are already provided in your site configuration, and are generated automatically. You should not add these meta tags through this section.

Again, I stress that this is an advanced level feature, and entering incorrect information in this section can cause weird issues with your website. As usual if you have any questions, or need assistance setting up your website - we are always here to help!

IE 10 Compatibility Fixes

Hi, We were notified within the past few days of some compatibility issues with the most recent version if Internet Explorer and the page editor in the ImpactFolios pages manager.

As of today, these issues have been corrected.

New Tutorial - Setting up an Etsy Shop Page

We've added a new tutorial to the support section today, which will walk you through how to add an Etsy Shop to your website.

The Etsy Shop page is a newer feature of our service, which allows you to host your Etsy Shop directly on your ImpactFolios website.

Once your Etsy Shop Page is set up, it will require no additional editing. Any changes or updates you make on your Etsy shop are automatically updated on your website.

About Support for Mobile Devices

We've received many questions lately regarding the use of Flash features on iPhone and iPad devices.

ImpactFolios offers designs and features that are fully compatible with all mobile devices - whether you are on a Droid, iPhone or other smartphone. That said, you can optionally enable features on your website that may make them less accessible to certain mobile devices.

Specifically, Flash features are not natively supported by iPhone or iPads. If you are using these features, your site will be less compatible with these mobile devices.

While we provide certain features which utilize Flash technology, we do not recommend enabling these features if you prefer that your site available to mobile devices. We do offer similar features which do not utilize Flash technology, which will allow your site to be viewed by anyone, on any platform.

Features that use Flash - namely slideshows and a selection of gallery layout options - are clearly labeled in the option title and description.

New Tutorial: Adding YouTube Videos to Your Page

We have just added a new tutorial to the support section which explains how to add YouTube videos to pages on your website.

This is one question that we are asked frequently. If you are hosting videos, there is some advantage to hosting them via YouTube, particularly because they are easy to share, searchable, and ultimately can lead to more traffic back to your own website.

Paypal updates and issues

It has come to our attention that some clients are getting errors when using the Paypal "add to cart" function on our site. The error message is typically the one shown below:

HTTP Status 405 - Request method 'POST' not supported

We've discovered that this is a result of some recent changes to the Paypal service. The error is not with Paypal or ImpactFolios, and appears to be localized to certain web browsers that have outdated cookies. Thus, it is likely rare that a customer would see the above error when purchasing from your site.

The good news is - there is a simple fix.

If you or your customers are receiving the above error, they simply need to clear their web browser cookies, and the issue will be resolved.

If you are using Internet Explorer:

Click the "gear" icon on the upper right of your browser
Select "internet options".
Under the "General" tab, click the "Delete..." button under "Browsing History".
An option dialog will appear. Make sure you have checked the option to delete cookies, then click "ok".

If you are using FireFox:

Click on the "Firefox" button on the upper left of your browser.
Select "Options" from the drop down menu.
In the Options dialog, click "Security".
Click "remove individual cookies".
In the next window, you can either browse to find the cookies related to Paypal, or simply remove all cookies.

New HTML Editor Released

Today we launched a new version of the HTML editor, used to edit your blogs and basic html pages.

This new editor is compatible with mobile devices.

Additionally, it includes a number of new editing features, including spell check, emoticons, additional font formatting, and improved compatiblity when importing text from html pages and word documents.

Etsy Importer

We added a new feature to the site today that will allow you to import items directly from Etsy, into your portfolios on ImpactFolios.

Importing from Etsy will also automatically create links in your portfolios so that visitors to your site can buy your imported items directly from Etsy.

We've also added a property to the images in your portfolio, which allows you to set an Etsy link for each of the images in your portfolio. This will create a purchase button for Etsy on those images. This is useful for items that you have added to ImpactFolios prior to the import option.

To import Etsy items, go to a portfolio in the portfolio manager, and click the "Etsy Import" link. You will be walked through the process of setting up your shop and importing images.
